Valentine’s Search Trends For 2019

It’s 2019 and a lot of us are beating off the January blues but not to worry as Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. It’s the biggest holiday since Christmas and is the 4th largest spending holiday of the year, with numerous people celebrating Valentine’s Day all around the world.

Jewellery, chocolates, clothing and flowers are among the most purchased items in the build up to this romantic day. According to Etsy, Valentine’s shopping begins in December, gets busier in January and then peaks during the first two weeks of February. The most popular search trends for the first week of February are valentine’s cards and we can confirm that 40,000 of you searched for engagement rings in the six weeks before Valentine’s Day last year. Good luck if you’re one of these people.

The most common search trend last year for flowers was “flowers near me” and whilst many head to the nearest supermarket to purchase their chocolates, a total of 3,967,490 of you took to Google and searched “valentines chocolates” and 1,643,940 people searched “valentines sweets”. This was back in 2017, so the margins for this year will be much greater.

You don’t have to be in a couple to appreciate this day either, as more and more people are buying self-love gifts, what a great idea! It’s also no surprise that Tinder searches surge around this time of year.

No matter what you’re doing this year, we wish you all a great Valentine’s Day from all of us here at Haystack Digital.
